Activity: We headed to Moreau Lake once we were sure it was frozen over and the park service said it was safe to go on. Moreau Lake State Park currently doesn't ice skating but they are planning to later this season or next year. We still had lots of fun sliding and "hiking" on the frozen lake and watching people ice fish.

We rented snowshoes for $5 a pair and enjoyed basic hikes with small elevation changes. We especially loved sliding down the snowy hills to go onto the frozen lake.

Lake Moreau has a warming hut right next to the lake full of kids books and puzzles with a wood-fired stove. It's a great place to take a quick break and warm little hands before heading back out.

Reflections: The gates heading down to the lake close at about 3 pm so if you'll be there after that and are hoping to go down to the lake, you'll have to take a short hike in and out.

The warming hut is located down by the lake as well.

Snowshoe rentals are located in the main office by the parking lot.

We loved Lake Moreau and ended up going back several times. In the winter, they offer public ice fishing especially for kids so if you can time it, that's sure to be an amazing experience!
